When preparing for sailing with kids, definitely everything must be organized in advance. We will write here about the best destinations for sailing with kids in Croatia. Calm waters as well as season period are something you should take in consideration. Croatia is a calm water destination which has several sailing points that could be very interesting while sailing with kids. Heading from North to South, first there is Istria which has couple of interesting sights to visit while sailing. First are Brijuni Islands, which are National park. The biggest Island has big Safari park with exotic animals, an educational centre for children, bike rent and many other activities.
The southest point of Istrian peninsula and most beautiful and interesting place for children to explore in Istria is Rt Kamenjak (Nature park). This truly is one of the best destinations for sailing with kids in Istria. You can anchor in: cove Portic (6 – 8 meters dept), unless it is strong wind Bura, cove Polje. There you can rent a kayak tour with a professional guide (we can do that for you), kayak ride or snorkelling in caves of Kamenjak with professional Go-Pro camera photos even under water, you can go and encounter dinosaur trace (cause Kamenjak is one of the oldest dinosaur sites in Europe).
More southern is Mali Losinj Island, the jewel of Kvarner which has Marina Mali Losinj and truly is a family Islands with many places to visit and some of them are Aqua park camp Cikat, Apoxiomon musem, Providenca, Bike point – you can rent there SUP, Segway, kayak and bicycles, Odorous gardens – garden with more than 200 fragrant herbs that produces different kind fragrances every day.
Right next to Mali Losinj is Island Cres and if you would like to spend a day just enjoying beautiful nature, beautiful beaches and summer activities, this is just a place you need. Cres Island can be described mostly as untouched nature with beautiful coves and beaches. Interesting is Lubenice town, beautiful picturesque small town on a steep hill, which is inhabitat for more than 4000 years. Under the hill there is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Island as well as in Croatia. It is mostly reachable by the sea as well as one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia. Martinscica is a small village on the quietest part of the Island, perfect for family vacation and you can anchor in one of its beautiful beaches and enjoy with your family. And last one on Cres is Vransko Lake which is also a nature park.
Zadar area is also very interesting destination for children, there are Kornati Islands if you are more into sailing and sun, as well as Dugi otok Island which has beautiful Saharun (Sakarun beach) as well as Telascica bay, also nature park. If you would like a day off, you can take your children in big Fun park Mirnovec which is in Biograd (near Zadar also). Zadar town can also be interesting for kids because it has Monument to the sun and Sea Organ write next one another. Going more southern, the best destinations for sailing with kids are all Islands, because you can find paradise and real untouched nature, which can be pretty crowded in summer months, so we will definitely recommend you to avoid sailing with kids in July and Auguste. If you are going in June (when you can already sail, swim and sunbath because it is almost every year pretty warm) enjoying the nature with your kids can be really nice. You can do Island hopping and include Islands Solta, Brac, Vis, Hvar, Pakleni Islands, Korcula, Lastovo, Mljet. While chartering a boat our suggestion is to rent extras for fun water activities that will be interesting for kids such as SUP, Ski Jet, Water ski, Sea doo, etc. Almost every of these Islands also has historical sights so, beyond water sports, you can take kids on a learning tour.
