How to choose charter yacht

When starting to organise your sailing holiday, especially if you’re going to be sailing for the first time, there are several advices you need to follow in yacht charter.

Yacht charters offer yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans, motor yacht and Gulets for chartering from Saturday till Saturday, so minimum 7 days. Only in preseason or post season period (which would on Mediterranean be in April, May, October, November), you can charter a yacht for less than seven days, for a weekend or so.

So, the first thing you need to choose is a destination, where would you like to sail, is it calmer waters or windier and adventures waters. When you choose a destination, you should pick a date. If you fancy sunbathing, swimming and other sports water activities, in Mediterranean you should definitely choose summertime, which is from the end of June until middle of September. If you are more of a sailing enthusiast, than definitely you should pick April, May, as well as end of September, October or even November.

After picking a date you should pick a yacht that suits your needs. Yacht charter boats are all very well maintained and serviced. While choosing a perfect boat for your sailing holiday, you should see what are your interests. If you like adventure, slow sailing, doesn’t want to hurry anywhere, just want to enjoy but also experience sailing activities, you should definitely pick a sailboat. Depending how many of you are about to sail, you should pick number of cabins. In each cabin there is a place for two to sleep. In yacht charter, sailboats are from 2 to 6 cabins. The more cabins sailboat has (the bigger it is) the more expensive it is. Price also increases as the boat is younger. If you like speed and luxury, motor yacht is what you are looking for. Yacht charter motor yacht usually have from 2 to 6 cabins. The only thing you should have in mind while chartering a motor yacht is its fuel consumption, which is pretty high. If you are into sailing, but want a more stable version of a sailboat, than you should choose a catamaran. Yacht charter catamarans usually have from 4 to 6 cabins. They are duo hull sailboats which are stable, so if you usually experience seasickness it wouldn’t be your problem in this case. on the other hand, if you would like to experience sailing on an old wooden sailboat that can go on sails and on motor, you should pick a Gulet. Yacht charter Gulets has up to 14 cabins with bathrooms which are home type. You can easily say these are hotels on water. They offer full service in terms of Chef, Hostess, Skipper (Captain of the boat), etc.

After picking destination, date and boat you like, if you do not have sailing experience and licence, you would need a skipper. For every boat, Centours yachting can offer you your skipper who will take care of your boat, sail it and even show you the sailing bases. If you charter more bigger yacht and need an extra service in terms of cleaning and cooking, than you should also hire a hostess who cooks. Hostess makes sure your boat is clean and not messy and if you would like her to cook, she is able to prepare 2 meals a day (usually it is breakfast and one main meal, lunch or dinner). If you have sailing experience and you have a skipper licence, you can send us a scanned copy of it, so we can check is it accepted in Croatian waters.

If you are sailing with children or pets, you should have in mind while chartering a yacht that you need to rent some extra things such as safety net and note to your agent that there has to be some extra life jackets onboard for your children.
